How much Sulfamic acid is needed?

I dissolved the cotton swab that I used to filter the precipitate from earlier, when the sulfamic acid caused it to precipitate (see earlier picture).

I was hoping it was gold but this after putting it through AR, denoxxing with sulfamic acid (0.3g), and then cooling it down and sprinkling in 0.5g smb, no drop.

I think the gold is still the previous solution, I will do a stannous test once I make stannous chloride.

Yggdrasil, After the first attempt with AR, adding sulfamic acid caused that precipitate (picture in the previous post) and I filtered that with a cotton ball, I assumed it was possibly lead precipitated by sulfamic acid. I don't know what lead precipitate should look like. I took that remainder solution and added smb, but I did not get much reaction and no gold drop.

Now I've used the cotton ball, holding the first precipitate material and running it through a small batch of AR.

I noted in my previous message it didn't drop, but it was just slow, and from what I read, small amounts of gold can be slower to precipitate.

Right now I am seeing mostly clear liquid and precipitate gathering on the bottom!

This second attempt appeared to have a reaction when I added the smb, the previous one did not.

I still have the solution from the previous one and I will do a stannous test on it later.

How much material was dissolved and in how much AR?

I re read from the beginning.
Is this all about the filters?

Yes it is. I'm wondering if I failed to rinse off any smb from when you told me to spray some on them while soaking them in hcl.

I rinsed them, then put them in the AR. Then heated and added sulfamic to denox, and my gold precipitated.

Could it be there was smb in the solution already at that point?

How many filters in gram?

Aah you misunderstood me.
Not soak in HCl moist them, spray SMB, dry them and incinerate them.
Then dissolve the remains.

The filters were embedded with gold flakes from fingers - it was not just old filters.

I estimated 0.2-0.3 grams from the amount of gold fingers.

I screwed up using paper towels and had a mess of gold foils all over in 3 filters, 3 paper towels, etc. I learned by the end, how I will filter out foils much more efficiently next time.

I only did this small batch as training to get experience with the process.

I have a much larger batch of fingers I'll be doing another day, hoping to get 1gram of gold from them.

It is entirely possible it has too little gold to be visible at once.
Let it stand over night before siphoning off the liquid.
