A rather difficult question to answer in that I'm not sure exactly what you'd like to know.

Here's something to ponder.

Gold and silver are known to migrate in to one another when placed in intimate contact. Armed with that idea, don't store both items where they can contact one another.
Thieves are known to steal gold and silver. So much so that you are at risk just owning the stuff. Don't make it public knowledge if you are involved with precious metals. Don't even talk about it with casual acquaintances. I was burglarized on two occasions, both of which revolved around precious metals. I had openly discussed my hobby, which proved to be a huge mistake.

If you intend to own precious metals, don't allow anything to be stored by a third party. Take possession, but be prepared to make provisions for safe storage. In a crisis, even if you are dealing with an honorable business, it may be impossible for you to collect that which is rightfully yours.

If you'd like to be more specific, perhaps more suitable comments will be forthcoming.

Also refer to MSDS on gold
( it's an older post but a good read for newbies)

Just don't handle it! Easier said than done but that keeps it shiny and exta-marketable to investors. To me, gold is gold: just how much and how pure.

Had no idea that they would migrate into one another. That's very interesting.
Well documented in Rose's The Metallurgy of Gold.

well, all the advise you have gotten so far is telling you to keep your gold at home and safe. Harold advised you to take and keep possession of your gold and not to deposit it. if you were to put your gold in the bank and some thing like a collapse of the system were to happen, you may not be able to retrieve your gold at a time when gold will be the only real money.it would be useless to you locked in a bank that was closed.everyone has told you to keep your gold with you and safe, i dont know of anything to add to that.of coarse its yours and you can do what you want with it, but, if you wasnt going to listen to the advice given then why ask the question.

If people already know you process gold then make lead bars, spray paint them gold, label them underneath as " you process fake gold lead bars for ebay sales" display them with adequate lighting on an alarm switch. SO when they are picked up a super loud horn sounds, they will grab the bar and run. End result loss of lead, and the knowledge that you keep fakes.
All in fun of course - Lock up your gold sealed in it's own acid free case.

Simply trying to get as much info on the subject as possible Geo, I have not disregarded any of it.

By the way good advice (and thank you for it) on the safety box / collapse situation, but I meant short term, not long term.

I do not disregard advice, just ask alot of questions.....

what about a safety depositbox?
All depends on how much you trust the government to permit you access when there's an event. I don't mean to sound like an alarmist, but the government can not be trusted.
They're proven that time and again, including killing thousands of (privately owned) sheep in the western Utah desert (Dugway Proving Grounds) when testing nerve gasses, to say nothing of nuclear testing in Nevada, when prevailing winds drifted towards southern Utah. That was by design, so they could determine the effect of radiation on humans.

John Wayne, along with a disproportionate number of people, who were making a film at that time, died from various forms of cancer. (Key word here is disproportionate)

I will avoid further comments, for this is not the place to discuss politics.
