Today I just got handed a nice load of super high grade mil spec surp and boards and when we sorted the load we found something interesting.
These are two metal bars coated in white enamel paint. Lets see if anyone can identify the material and guess as to its use.
The first bar is about 5.25 inches long, 1.25 inches wide and 1.25 inches high. It has two countersunk holes with metal inserts for attaching.
It is stamped in part (pt 3) in a circle and
wt 4.5 lb. It also has id numbers which I cant post here.
If feels heavy like a gold bar. It is slightly magnetic and has a high pitched ring like brass.
Wayyy too heavy for how small it is.
My best educated guess is 876.42 pounds per cubic foot. I think it is tungsten but when I do the math for that it comes up heavier than this by about 1/2 pound or more.
What is your best guess? Since it is painted, I do not think a photo will make much difference.
