Identifying metal

Newbie here... I have about 4 pounds of processed?/Refined? metal I inherited in a sealed plastic tub... how can I tell what it is? Its (bright, shiney) silver in color, the shape is cylinder , weight is approximate 1 gram per cylinder, non-magnetic and all I know is my father in law used in metal casting. Probably silver as he casted silver the most, but would like to know of sure.[/list]
