i'm new to this whole process of e-scrapping, i started , maybe 7 -8 months ago, i started in the kitchen, then moved to my camper, them when i ran out of room storing in the camper, i built a 30 x 32 garage, ( i've wanted to do this for 3 years and just never got around to it ) now i can store more stuff, what i have so far is 4 boxes, one for hard drives, cd-roms, floppies ect in one box another box with laptop boards, pc boards, sound cards video card boards lcd boards, ect and other box with crt boards, tv boards, from what i have read here, its what you call number 2 boards, ( not high grade), another box with what i call my good stuff, server boards, old pc boards with wide traces, telephone switch cards and some medical boards etc. then inside my house i keep in smaller tubs my pc processors, memory.

my boxes are on pallets, my boxes are roughly 4 x4 x 4 and 4 x 4 x 3. i'm not sure if i can say where i live or post me email addy, so i wont until i know, i want to make some money off of ths stuff, there is only one place in town who actually recycles electronis, but they dont pay u for the stuff, they take it from you, so i decided to do this myself, i am a electronic's tech by trade.

should i find someone who can process all of this for me, take it to a company who does this , i've seen a couple out there that are like 5 hours from me, is it feasable to do it yourself .....

i've hooked up with a couple of pc repair shops that give me there stuff, so getting this stuff is not a problem,

my name is phil

Keep reading here. You will quickly figure out what to keep and stockplie
for possibly processing and refining later and what to sell to help pay for the cost
of your operation and for what you will need to begin refining if you choose
to do that.

It sounds like you have a good plan. Collect what you can, read and study all you can,
sell what you can and then refine what you can. 8)

I would say try to find a place near you that pays you for the material (boardsort.com is a good reference for prices) If you want to refine stuff yourself, do the simpler things (ie. gold fingers, gold pins) and sell the rest. Even the volume of some materials the guys at boardsort get, like motherboards and pci cards, is too small to recycle/reclaim the metals effectively and profitably.

as for transport, you could always look into renting a u-haul and driving the stuff somewhere yourself... or checking with a freight company to see what their rates are.

hope this was of help.

i have my own trailer, i am looking into possibly an enclosed trailer with open doors instead of the drop down type. i think its probably safe to say i live where south dakota, iowa and nebraska touch, in that corner, so if someone knows of a goof place to haul this stuff to, i would appreciate it. i have one location in mind, they are located minnesota up past Minneapolis, i thought there was one closer, but i can't find my link to it.
