I have (36) of these mil spec connectors that I have disassembled. They appeared to be "water-proof". The pins go through what looks and acts like a rubber compound and I can't pull the pins withouth then snapping off in the rubber. Can they be processed in AP or dilute nitric as they are or can someone shed some light on how to remove the pins?

Glorycloud,

Here's a thread where this subject was previously explored:

Milspec Data

Be sure to read the entire thread (all three pages) and ask any additional questions if there are any.

I wouldnt do that glory. The center material of every barrell connector Ive ever seen is one of two materials.Hard plastic,or soft rubber. If it is hard plastic you can usually suspend the center of the connector by the "collar" (I use a bench vice) and pop the center out using a screw driver and a mallet. When the center is dislodged simply break the hard plastic apart using a hammer sift out the pins from the crumbled material. If you use this method make sure you incinerate the pins.If it is soft rubber you should be able to simply pull the pins out of the rubber using needle nosed plyers.
