anyone ever looked at the bottom of a cordless electric kettle? dont know what made me look but, I did and there is a fair sized gold coloured metal, anyone fancy testing theirs to see if it is gold plating? im pretty sure it maybe, or some very highly polished brass many thanks

Do you have a picture of yours? There are so many cordless electric kettles out there it would be impossible to even guess, unless you give a little more information.

Without having seen it, it is very likely. Not all kettles will have that, due to different qualities, but it makes sense to goldplate this connector, since it is exposed to very high current, heat and moisture. I dont think it will be brass. But the amount of gold will not be very high within one single item.
