Hi all

I have about 32kg of scrap material melted into one conical bar. The silver content of the bar is about 26%, minute gold & PGM's %. Normally I would granulate the silver, dissolve in hot nitric acid and then go the dextrose and NaCl route to precipitate. My issue however is the following - At such low quality, I generally precipitate out less silver than expected. The sludge remaining after dissolving the silver hardly contains any silver, so I do not partially dissolve in nitric.

It can pehaps be that the initial XRF scan of 26% was an over-estimation.

However, can anyone maybe guide with some pointers on what to look out for when dissolving silver to improve recovery rates?

Thanks
