That's not an easy question to answer as it depends on exactly what system you go for, the latest system that I like was developed by one of our members and involves atomisation of the karat scrap but the equipment to do this isn't cheap but it's very fast and will give you your values back in a very short time frame. If you have none of the equipment needed to begin with this could well, cost you in excess of $500,000 at a guess, but it is a guess and I'm not the one who can really tell you as I have never installed one, a refinery can be built very cheaply, well compared to that figure but will be either slower or have values tied up in production constantly it's all down to how seriously you want to enter the world of refining. If you do the maths and can work on a 1% margin on all your refining based on your figures you would make $38,000 a day plus the bonus metals, silver and PGMs less costs, you do the maths and allow for say $25,000 as actual profit then the cost of set up seems very reasonable but this is all theoretical as we don't know exactly what you will have to pay or what you can sell for or whether the volume you claim is achievable as an ongoing amount.
My suggestion to you is to investigate very thoroughly the volumes you can find and the price you will need to pay and the price you can obtain for the refined metals this should tell you whether the business is likely to sink or swim.
