I'm keen to try making my own yellow and white gold alloys in rod form. I have two questions
1) what are the typical proportions to use (other than gold) for 9ct, 18ct yellow and white gold? There seems to be quite the variation out there. I don't want rose gold so I'm guessing copper needs to be kept to a minimum and have more silver in the yellow gold. For white should I have 10-15% Pd or less?
2) Any special tricks to melting gold/copper/silver/palladium components together so I get a nice alloy rod that can be used to make new jewellery

Many thanks CARIM
