Hello,
I'm looking for a chart about the maximum solubility of different types of metals in Aqua Regia. I'm looking for Copper, Silver and Gold.

Thank You

Noxx,

The charts can be found as the solubility charts of the metal salts (chlorides and nitrates) in water. When metals are exposed to acids of any sort they become soluble only after being converted to metal salts, by the acids. The acids typically lose Hydrogen and become part of the metal salt which is formed. This is why we can reverse some of the conversions to regain the metals and the acids.

Solubility is achieved by converting the metal into the salt of an acid.

If you are interested in the amount of metal that a particular acid will convert, you will need the reaction formulas to calculate the molarities of the reactants to get the answer. The percentage of the produced salt that is metal is your answer.

The General Reactions list has many of the accepted values for the metals which you asked about specifically.

In one gallon of 4/1 aqua regia, you can dissolve about 2# of most metals. This includes copper, nickel, iron, most other base metals, and gold, or a combination of these.

May I know, what do you mean by 4/1 Agua regia and 2# of most metals?

Do you mean 4HCL+1HNO3? will dissolve 2 part of most metals?
