I have an old Mettler balance that was thrown on the floor in a coal wash laboratory I was tearing down in 1994. I know they were quite expensive to purchase. I am sure it took a good blow before I found it.
I was wondering if anyone knew what the ring shaped weights were made of; is there any precious metal content?
It's appearance is not damaged so I don't want to destroy it unless there is some value inside.

You might check with Toledo Mettler to see if it's worth repairing. If it is you probably would get more money from it by selling it repaired. They are very expensive.
