Has anyone ever been able to acquire military scrap, or do you know how to go about bidding on military precious metal scrap? From what I understand, it is extremely precious metal bearing scrap....

Not sure how they do it in the US but here in the UK its by tender to get it direct so you have to get approved to be included on the tender list,start at the defence department and keep trying until you find who is in charge of waste disposal.

Good luck! There's about 100,000 guys doing that already. Pretty tough to get anything bought right anymore.

Suprisingly the military has a very good idea of what the scrap value is on most of their stuff. They scrap out and process most of the good stuff themselves. Sometimes good stuff lands on Gov. Liqudation but since the raised the minimum bid to $150 from $50 and lowered the lot sizes its gotten more difficult but still you never know what you'll find.
