But I bet most of you have 1 or maybe many more. the contact points on your credit and smart cards. not a big source unless you could make some kind of deal with banks or credit companies. these chips are now standard in all cards in Canada.

Also used in many laundromats in the USA. Put $ in vwnding machine, receive a plastic card like those pictured.

Take plastic card to washing machine or dryer, swipe card to activate.

SIM cards from cell phones.

ebay auction for over a lb of them:

If that is per pound of whole cards, then that would be a good source. They would have to have a pretty decent plating on them to produce that, and considering they are swiped thousands of times, theres a good chance that the plating is that good.

Thats a great question. Is the pound weighed accounting for the entire card or closely cut around the gold?

What type of card would be important to factor in also, as some cards with this gold square are credit card size while the sim cards are much smaller. Would be a good project for someone with access to a pound of these to refine them and post the results. Maybe get a pre-cut weight then a trimmed weight.

Assuming that there is .5 grams of gold per pound of these, and your auction is for 1.25 pounds for $49.99 + shipping. Gold at $1414.00 per ounce. If one ounce is equal to 28.3495231 grams, then one gram of gold would be worth approximately $ 49.88. Divide that by 2 and you have $24.94 worth of gold. I realize that Ebay gold value is much more than the actual gold value so you may get them sold. :|

You can't use 28.3495231 grams in your figuring.
You must use troy ounce - 31.1034 grams
