Hello everyone, I am a newbie with only a couple of posts, but have read most of the Hoke book, and ordered the DVDs from Lasersteve for silver, AP, and platinum. I was at a junk store that gets "excess property" from government sources and they have a bin full of these Motorola pagers. I bought one to tear apart and the boards have a lot of gold showing, although it seems pretty thinly plated. What interested me was the silver looking antenna. I clipped it off and weighed it...4.8 grams. I filed a spot and it showed the same color under the surface. I melted it with my acetylene torch and at first it slumped pretty quickly, but didn't ball up like silver would. I fluxed it with borax flux, and with a lot of heating got it to ball up. I filed a spot on the little ball and put 18K gold testing solution on it and got a green reaction. My question (without having a silver testing solution right now) is whether anyone knows what these little antenna are made of. My internet searches gave no clue, and searching for "Pager" on this forum got me nowhere too. Any ideas would be appreciated.
