Hi all

Iv'e just been to my local chemical shop they told me that muriatic acid is the old name for Hydrochloric acid if this is true then i do't need to buy any because i already have some or is it a case that muriatic acid is a lower concentrated Hydrochloric acid??

Thanks
Richard

muriatic acid is 32% hcl and concentrated reagent grade is 35% hcl, you cant get any more concentrated than that at ambient temps at (1) atmospheric pressure. muriatic acid from your local home improvement supply works just fine for refining. check the label and make sure its 32%.

You should read the Guided Tour Link below it will explain these basic questions.

Every item in the Guided Tour is very important to your success in refining so don't skip any.
