Hi, I’m having difficulties with lye and sugar method in order to refine silver. I already followed all the steps (put extra lye for safe and extra sugar to make sure all is transformed into cement) but I sometimes still getting this brownish flakes when I pour it into shots or granules.

Does anyone know what to do with that flakes? And how to make perfect cement using lye and sugar?

Thanks everyone!

The flakes is something like this. My friend told me that it’s unprocessed silver (probably because lack of sugar). It turns into silver chloride when I mix that flakes with nitric acid
