Hey everyone

I am abuubay i just invested in a gold mine in Africa. I will be documenting my journey on here and will be asking for advice here and there.

Prior to starting this project , i bought gold dust at fairly low prices and sold it off to a exporter/refiner.

Wish me good luck

Welcome to the forum. Your experience will be interesting to some of our members as some have had bad experiences dealing with gold scams coming out of Africa and it has been discussed openly here. Personally in my refining experiences I have seen buyers come back from travel to Africa to buy gold and they all ended the same way. They were sold a large quantity of gold at a sizeable discount and when they took their gold to a refiner back in the USA, the bars were not gold. Sometimes they were bars and sometimes it was gold sponge (a term for precipitated gold from refining) but it was never worth it's weight in gold, in fact, they never contained gold.

We know from threads we have had here involving refiners who bought gold in Africa and refined it and were successful, one particular refiner in India comes to mind. So we know there is gold available from Africa. And if you can successfully work your way into selling gold from your mine into a sustainable safe business transaction to foreign buyers, you could do well. Just know the odds are stacked against you.

Not to rain on your parade, I would love to help you succeed, and answer any questions you may have about processing or analyzing your gold to assure things on your end. But know it may be an uphill climb.

Hey

Thanks for the heads up , i appreciate it. All i can say is that in terms of buyers im extremely lucky that i have foreign refiner who has always treated me fairly.

To work in Africa you need a solid local partner. When i was buying gold here locally my agent would buy 100 grams at one time. He never cheated me out of a gram or a dollar. He is still with me till this day.

Next week is when i start operations and will be seeing what type of manner the foreman works.

My aim is a mercury free operating mine. My mine contains both quartz (ore which i have seen 5 grams per ton) and a secondary ore (locally called bluestone) which contains more gold per ton along the lines of 7-10 grams per ton.

The locals grind up the ore (5 to 10 tons a day ) using a hammermill and use mercury to bind the gold and burn it off . They then boil the concentrates in nitric acid untill they see no reaction.

This process seems to me very rudimentary to say the least

My aim is a mercury free operating mine.
This is a good goal. There is good reason to keep mercury out of the environment, both for the environment and for the workers handling the mercury.

The most critical point of success will be in your laboratory. The ability to assay your ores and measure your leaching efficiency will pay you back with increased yields.

Most of these topics are covered here on the forum and questions about what you want to do or suggestions about doing things better will be well received. The prospect of putting Africa on the list of reliable suppliers may seem out of reach now to many but by wanting to do it properly and being willing to discuss your methodology and work towards transparency and sustainability may help to change that.

What interesting name You have.

Most foreigners who try Gold mining in Africa .... end up getting their wallet lightened.

Although more often then not that is true certainly does not mean that it is always true

For that matter I have spent a good many years around mining right here in the good old U. S. A. (Northern California & Oregon) & have personally witnessed a fair number of mining claim owners run scams on mining investors - scams where investors were scammed out of a few hundred thousand dollars to a few million

To be clear I was not personally involved in the scams - just a witness to them

In fact - over the years - we have watched a few such scams played out right here on the forum (& I am not talking about just scams out of Africa)

Scams can even sometimes run in the other direction - wherein the investor cheats the mine owner &/or prospector out of his holdings &/or findings - & yes I have seen that happen to
Wish me good luck

Thank you for posting & yes we do wish you good luck - so yes please do keep us informed of your progress/operations & IF (the big IF) we can & will certainly be willing to help

With that said - when it come to help most if not all of our members are actual operators NOT investors so you will find little to NO help in investment terms here on this forum - but - we are always very open & willing to help with advice in operations & do so in the hope that we can help you to succeed along with the advice we provide

Sadly - the scammers out of Africa run there scams on both ends - first on their own people (the SMALL local miners) even to the point the small miner (their own people) are working as slave labor --- then on the other end they run their scams again on buyers/investors

Thank you all for the the advice.
I have been doing business across the African continent for a while part of doing business here is accepting a lot unethical stuff.

As for scammers i can honestly say in all the years i have done business, i have been scammed once and that was more my fault than the scammer.

For example i have never bought fake gold or gold that was not at the percentage it was suppose to be.

I know a guy from BC who tried Gold mining in Africa on a large Tenure ..... he showed me picts of his mining camp; the amount of weapons, security, and perimeter fencing/barricades around the camp would make a H@lls Angels bunker look like a kindergarden school ..... even with all the security, they still had major problems of many types ..... he eventually dropped the project and went back to mining in Canada.

If your on a small tenure that doesn't involve much money - your odds are probably alot better than being on a big tenure where there's alot at stake.

Ask question ,don’t fall for every fancy words.

Make Your Own research.

Here in USA
we must to follow many rules and regulations
to open a mining business and Keep it open.

Even with all those rules in place.
Some time we have been scammed

In this business
You have and must be Smart

But with a high grade of Safety

It sounds like Abuubay is going into this with his eyes wide open. Maybe we can all learn from his experience and help him with his journey with sound advice.

I wish him the best of luck.

Plenty of gold is available in Africa, the challenge is how to acquire it successfully (minus myths & drama).
In a nutshell, never opt for shortcuts...they always end up being very expensive. Always use a vetted professional assistance team to build a strategy & compare the results. Never be in a hurry to trade & in the back of the mind know that its a big scramble for the precious metal.
Personally, the best starting point is to legally acquire a gold mine. This is the toughest level. The rest is easier.
Cheer and good luck!

Hi Abuubay,
Could you please specify where in Africa as Africa is a continent and not a country. I am from South Africa witch is a country at the tip of Africa and very well known for gold mining. We have enourmous problems here with illegal gold mining. It has become a war between gangsters and innocent people are getting killed in the crossfire.

Nothing is easier in mining

Those who had never operate a mine
have no clue of all the hassle.

Don’t fall for fancy words

Scammer are Not your friend.

To get a legal mine
( in Africa and many others countries
is almost impossible)
Because the corrupt aspect of law in there

And the NO law in many places
White peoples are not allow to operate a mine over there
unless You have the government as your body guard
But
soon or later trouble will came to You.

(We like it or Not)
We Know that everything In Africa
is under control of some kind of mafia
and You have to pay to be allow to do business there
many “smart peoples” who think that they can make it over there
had lost their life in that quest.

And We can talk about
all millions of scammer
and their scheme
around there.

even in this forum
from time to time
they show up

when You know what is going on
in the precious metals and gemstone world is easier for You to spot those scammer

So guys be careful of those scammers
watch for the red flags

I am a career geologist based in mainly Kenya & Tanzania. For over 25 years I have been dealing in color gemstones, diamonds, gold & also I have been a consultant in mineral exploration, mining, mine licensing & custom-made jewellery design. But of recent years, I have decided to shift more to base & precious metals mining, processing & trade.
I have seen the problems with gold mining & trading especially in Africa some of which can be mitigated but others cannot. Some of the non-mitigatable problems includes the belief that gold is cheap & plenty (comes on 99.99 nuggets & bars in tons!!!!). The other fallacy is that African bush gold miners are primitive & do not know prices or even where to sell the gold!!! Currently even kids know gold prices that but they may not look like they know. This is why most people are scammed. Nevertheless, some smart guys make it & quite big...we have had Indian, Arabs, British but latest & biggest entrant in the trade are the Chinese; big winners!!
Personally, I mainly prefer to deal reputable companies but I love private research in mineral processing of rare ores including gold tellurides, natural refractory ores for rhodium, platinum etc & complex rare earth metal ores.
Disclaimer: I never propose to sell anyone a ton of gold in a hotel room or similar other silly scams...hehehe!!!
