Hello, I'm Andre from Quebec, Canada.
I have been working with computers for 30 years now, and accumulated a good number of E Scarp over the years. From computers to screens to power plugs including 3 kg of ram dating all the way back to the 90s. One of my hobbies is working on precious and semi precious stones, mostly working with Australian Opal, and I wanted to start making jewellery pieces with the stones I have cut. I figured it would be a good thing to start a second hobby doing E Waste to get the metals I needed to make the jewellery. I am using some pieces of like heat sink fins directly by cutting them off and reshaping and also making some pendants with HDD platters, but now I want to have a bit more fun and get to processing my E Waste.
I have planned to get myself a melting furnace in the spring to try and make Nordic Gold to see how well it works for rings and pendants, so I'm not really planning on selling my recovered metals, but having fun smelting them and trying my hand at sand moulding next year.
My first step is cleaning and separating what I have. Aluminum is easy to find and sort, separating it from the Copper is sometimes hard, but I will keep the pieces of Aluminum with Copper mixed in for the Nordic Gold anyway, so no need to go nuts there. Cutting off gold fingers was easy and I have those done already.
My current step is sorting out board components. I will start a post on what I'm doing to see if I'm doing it correctly.
Well that's my intro. Thanks for your time, and sorry in advance for asking the questions you have answered a million times again.
