I've recently finished my first mini furnace from an old propane tank lined with foundry cement. I made a custom forced-air torch that is destroying my graphite crucibles and molds. I have a little ceramic crucible that I coated with borax but it seems to be getting pocked at the bottom of the inside (resembles a pumice stone texture).

My question is, will I always be buying crucibles or is there sturdier option? Thank you for your time!

You might think of this approach. If they can do steel, then Palladium is not far behind. Gold is a cool breeze: https://youtu.be/q-BVuQZSm08

Is the flame hitting your crucible full on, if so adjust the flame to circle round the crucible as this will reduce the wear on your crucible.
