So the wife runs a hotel locally, and every 90 days they clean out he lost and found. This is what she brought me home.

weighed in at 8.2 grams, i broke it in half to see if there was a underlying core of copper or silver, and with my 10x loop i cant see anything. I tested it with my new scratch and test kit, and it slowly disolved at 10K.

well if i read it right, it should be 10K, it was a real slow disolve. Or i might be wrong, probably am. what do you think patnor

actually, thats exactly what i did. i used a old mens ring that i wear regularly. Found that one with my metal detector years ago. Plain band ring. Im hoping i did it right. First time i have ever used one. got to start testing on other items now. unfortunately i dont have any platinum to compare yet.
