i came across a few of these chips and i think they are really cool.at first, i thought they were just flatpaks. they resemble a flatpak right down to legs on all four sides and being a SMD. i heated it apart and got some fairly clear photos of the chip and bonding wires.

unsure. they came from a lot of boards i bought from a recycler. it had other components that makes me think it is from imaging equipment.the body is aluminum but like i said, it was a SMD and had legs on all four sides. the others went through the incinerator with the other flatpaks. this is the only other one i could find in one piece. notice the skinned spot on the top? i hit it with a dremmel searching for the chips that were made of metal.
