i have opened this IC and was wondering what i'm looking at?
Copper, goldplated??

That is some kind of driver for stepper or induction electric motor. The plate under the chip is copper for external cooling. Rarely could be an audio amplifier.

You are looking at copper and possibly some silver plating.
