I just finished breaking up the remains of an old piano. There wasn't much left of it, the wood was rotted away and missing, and about all that was left was the cast iron frame, and it was broken.
The cast iron was labeled "Ellington", but it also had an emblem that said "House of Baldwin". The emblem is thin, only a few grams, but I think it may be sterling.
Then I got to looking at the paint. It's gold colored. Look's kind of like gold. :!:
Is there any chance there could be gold in the paint? It maybe a hundred years old.
This was about the sorriest cast iron I've ever seen. I broke it up with a sledge hammer, but I could have used a claw hammer.
