Hi everyone!
Just want to give you a tid-bit of info I learned a few days ago.
The guy I do concrete work for was talking to his friend who runs a plant that does gold plating. They were discusing me and how I get gold from computers. The guy told him that one of the things that they plate alot of is paper clips! He said that if paper clips are going in a file for years the metal will react with the acid in paper and leave stains so the high-end clips have a very thin gold plating that doesn't react.
just thought I'd pass it on, if in you scraping you look over there and see a huge box of gold color clips don't pass on them, they are 24ct. gold.
Would take alot of them but, every little bit adds up.

And should someone encounter such items, a clever way to effect a recovery is to simply toss them in the stock pot. The steel from which they're made would eventually be consumed, liberating the traces of gold, which would be recovered along with other values. A painless (and free) way to strip what little they contain.
