Just wondering if anyone has processed this kind of IC before.

I guess they compare to transistors of the same form factor, they should yield at least as good fingers per weight but can be much better too; usually: The smaller the form factor, the better the yield.
 
Recovery is entirely dependent upon leg length. That is, it's a majority of the gold content.

And there are variations that will have no gold.

Snoman I am more concerned about the disc. There will be a lot of tin involved from the disc being soldered to the pins. Looking for the simplest way to do that.

I usually break the glass out of the bottom of the can so the acid will enter the can to help dissolve the base metal faster.

The disc are silk screened traces that may be Palladium with gold bond wires attached to the silicon die.
I was thinking of cutting the caps off to remove the disc and process them separately.

What do you think?
 
When I've done them I just digest the can in hot nitric / sulfuric.

The Pd content is low. I let it collect in my waste barrel.

Jon I have no idea of what they were used in. I have searched the numbers but haven't came up with anything.
