Hi does anyone know if there are recoverables in old rotary phones cirica 1960s or in really large bus fuses ( 16 inch long x 3 1/2 diameter) ?

In the phone I would suspect small silver points in switches. Probably not more than 0.1 grams totally.

Fuses could have a silver wire as conductor but not all does. I've never ran into your type so that is just a guess. The last big fuse I pulled apart had a silver plated brass conductor if I remember correct.

maybe some in the phones not in the fuses more than likely. I sold some on ebay and was paid more the Cu value. If you have some rotary phones let me know I like the older ones might want to trade you.

yea its an unusual find ive had for awhile. it has huge copper fins on each end where it fits into the receptacle. Think ill leave it together for the conversation. thanks.

Somebody posted the phones may have gold plated balls ( awhile back)

Here's a link to the thread I think you're referring to. I looked it up recently because I bought some of these pieces a couple months ago on Ebay. As I understand it they actually come from the handsets of old payphones. I saved the auction page I bought them from as a pdf so I can't just post a picture, but there's a picture of some of them posted by Fever in that old thread. The one piece is a gold-plated ring with a beveled hole. The other piece is not a ball but a smaller gold-plated disc with a hollow hemisphere formed in it's center.
