I wouldn't rule out trying to sell the intact power supplies on ebay for $7 or $10 each "removed from working equipment". Just a suggestion.

Yeah. I need a new slimline PSU for my 2 unit server, unfortunately it's a different shape than your ones.

Yea... i could, but frankly i don't have the time or patience to deal with them so i just cut the wire and leave the PSU with the rest of scrap steel...
Thanks for the suggestion though

There is a good bit of copper and aluminum on the inside also. If you pop the cover off you should be able to rip the easiest parts out with channel locks. I just fill a bucket with those parts until I have time to work on them.

i know, that's a shame i did that, but i had about 1200 lb of PSU's with no more room to spare and more stuff coming in... with very little time dedicated to scrapping them (most of my time goes for refining and part time evening job)

We settled at 0.22$ per lb for PSU W/O wires. that worked out ok for me, very little labor and sufficient return.
sometimes i don't even bother removing them from the tower duo to my limitations...

Sam,

That's money you are throwing away just for a few second of work for each unit. I know it's pennines but pennies add up over time.

You don't know ANYONE currently unemployed in today's economy that would be willing to sell the PSU's on eBay for a split? Nephew? Neighbour?

or open them and separate metals. That can be done while watching TV. I used to sell torroid coils you can find cca 5 in every unit and I was selling them for 5e for 15-20 pieces. That mean one psu gave me 1 euro for just torroids.

good suggestions guys. Thanks.

I'll not let the PSU pile grow so big next time and apply some of the tips given here.
