I am in Southern California and have quite a few catalytic converters from Harley-Davidson motorcycles that I would like to find a refiner to buy them. There are roughly 97 catalytic converters.

Dave is right, and if I'm not mistaken there are quite stringent rules for the trade of cats in many places.
The reason for this is that it is a high price commodity that are easily stolen.
So in addition to keep the canister it is also wise to keep a record on the buys,
so you can verify the ownership and history of each if the question would ever emerge.

In the future if you plan on selling your Cat's, it's best not to cut the cases off. You'll probably get a better offer if they can verify a part number associated with the Cat comb.
If you soak the outer edge of the comb with dilute NaOH, a number appears. I’m assuming this is the same number as on the shell.
