I bet some of the experts knew this post was inevitable (saw me coming).

I have finished processing several batches of gold trace boards using Acid/Peroxide and 27.5% H2O2. The precipitate (black powder) and solids (mostly yellow Au) have been rinsed well with HCL and water. It looks great in the filter and the boards are virtually 100% stripped.

Is this material ready to be dissolved/precipitated in AR (or other, please advise), or are there additional steps to clarify? There is quite a bit of this material, I wish to sucessfully complete the refining process... devoid of minor catastrophic events.

Thank you for your input.

why dont you use hcl and bleach method. Works fairly quickly, much safer than AR and easy to precipitate from. If it is washed well it will produce high purity of gold.

With that fine precipitate, HCl/Cl will work fine. Use as little acid as possible to digest the powder. Once all the Gold is in solution, you can filter out any remaining solid residue and precipitate the Gold with SMB or Sodium Sulfite.

HCl/Cl is HCl with just a few drops of Chlorine bleach added to generate Chlorine gas. Go easy on the bleach.

Be sure to test your original digestion solution with Stannous Chloride solution for traces of Gold.

Banjags, please teach me how to use HCl and Bleach method. I would like to learn.

Honemaster, If your peroxide is 27%, you must have dissolved a lot of your gold. It still would be in solution. Don`t throw that away yet!

I have a lot of 35% peroxide. When I decide to re-dissolve Gold precips. About 5 parts concentrated HCl and 1 part 35% H2O2 will very quickly dissolve it. Just takes a few minutes, especially if the solution is warm. I can dissolve stripped gold foils in 15 minutes. I don`t see how you could have much visible gold if your solution is concentrated.
