Hi,

A friend of mine had some pins and screws removed from his back after his surgery, they have been there for yrs, and he claims they are Pt/Ti alloy. Any ideas of Pt amount in them are valuable enough to recover?

Regards,
Kevin

Titanium sparks a very brillant white shower of sparks when a grinder/cutting wheel is applied to it.

Platinum won't tarnish after cooling when heated until glowing red. Platinum is soluble in hot aqua regia and tests orange to stannous chloride.
