hello all,

if there a way to test tantalum that will give a 100% positive.

Etack has told us about the (heat test) but without experience i am not sure that is a good method for me.

thank you

If it sits in aqua regia and does nothing, it's probably tantalum.

It's got a grey-blue sheen to it.

The Tantalum slugs will burn if you get them hot enough. They glow red and turn to the Oxide

The way I have now been advising is removing the outer shell with light taps with a hammer.

This will give you a black and white anode. The white is silver paint over graphite over MnO^2.
