does the ammonia need to contain phosphorus before it will detect the presents of copper . i bought some clear ammonia that don't have phosphorus in it . i tested some solution with it that i know had copper in it and it did nothing and it should have immeditly turned blue . but like i said nothing happen just stayed clear .did i buy the wrong type :?:

You must add enough ammonia to make it alkaline. You probably had too much sample or not enough ammonia.
