I have noticed that it's not real hard to pop the copper cap off these green fiber cpu's. So if the copper is removed, is the cpu worth more?

Also, the AMD ceramic cpu that has the aluminum lid on it, it will pop right off as well. So same question, is it worth more with the lid removed?

I would certainly think so. If you take a pound of copper tops, lets say they are worth $20 a pound. Pop the tops off and weigh the cpu's. lets call it 4 ounces. That should be $20 dollars worth. Weigh the copper and minus the copper value (say $2per pound)and that should give you a value of 18 dollars + for the cpu"s. These numbers would give you $72 per pound for the cpu's. Of course use the correct numbers and prices for your area. These numbers are for easy math only..They do NOT represent actual value.

I fit is that easy to upgrade the material it is a good thing to do.

I have never seriously tried to do that , how are you popping them off??

Yes on both. But the amd K6's (socket super 7) with,or without the aluminum lid removed, will always be less in PM value, than a ceramic version of socket A or 462.This is due to the increased number of pins on a socket A or 462.Socket super 7 (aluminum cap) has 321 pins, compared to the socket A or 462 which has 462 pins.
I did some really quick math for you by comparing weights between them. These are 2 off of the shelf, and include the weight of normal amounts of thermal paste.
K6(w/lid intact) - 21.8 grams each -20.8 cpus/lb. / 6679 pins per pound of cpus
K6(lid removed) 16.4 grams each - 27.65 cpus/lb. / 8878 pins per pound of cpus
Athlon(socket A) 17.4 grams each - 26 cpus in 1 lb / 12044 pins per pound of cpus
So the athlon has 5365 more pins per pound, than the K6 with cap included, and 2199 more than the K6 with the aluminum cap removed. As you can see the ceramic socket A/462 will always be more valuable than the K6 reguardless of whether the aluminum cap is there or not.

A little heat works very well for both types.
