This may be a stupid question or have been previously answered. Does the memory capacity of ram have anything to do with how much value is contained in the chips? For instance.....would there be more gold in 1GB ram chips opposed to the same weight in 256MB chips?

in my dealing with the guys over at boardsort, ram is ram is ram to them. they give the same price for it as long as the fingers are intact and ant aluminum caseing (on rambus) is pulled off.

Most newer RAM, like DDR2 and DDR3, has smaller and often fewer chips than older RAM. I would assume that newer RAM has less PM content than older.

EDIT: The resale value, however, should be researched before processing for PM's. I usually list anything over 512MB capacity on eBay for 30 days. If it doesn't sell it gets scrapped.
