Astral,
For now I suggest you forget about finding chemicals, to use to recover or refine metals.
First you should spend your time learning about the art and skills. and where to find scrap values, or material with value, and learn to prepare them mechanically.
The chemicals and reactions pose many dangers, gases are deadly, mixing chemicals can create dangerous or explosive reactions, many dangers exist in what we do, dangers to you and anyone around where you work, so you need to study the safety of these chemicals, and the reactions and learn how to deal with waste of the toxic or dangerous byproducts, our safety section will be helpful in your study.
Hokes book will help you learn the fundamentals, and prepare you for the processes discussed on the forum, it will help you get acquainted with the chemical reactions of the metals.
The forum will go into details of many work arounds or processes we use for different types of scrap like electronic scrap, we also have sections on the forum dealing with mining and specific materials, or processes.
This field of study is vast, there is much more to it than it first seems to be. if this is something you are truly interested in figure on spending several lifetimes of study, just like many professions you can gain skills and spend your life learning more about this skill. so do not think you can just jump in and get some chemicals and make pure gold without spending the time to learn.
Find your scrap, save it up. spend your time in study, so that you understand how to recover the gold from the scrap (without loosing it,or hurting yourself trying something you are not sure of what your doing).
Gaining a little bit of gold is not worth a dime if you loose your health or harm someone in trying. In the safety section you can begin to learn many of the dangers and how to avoid them, study the section dealing with waste.
Hokes book to learn the fundamentals.
See also the guide to the forum (general chat section).
Where we get gold is from an education, the chemicals are just some of the tools we use, used with that education, without that education all we will get from the chemicals is danger to ourselves or others.
The point here is education first then comes the gold.
