I really got into the e-waste thing a couple years ago. It is fun, and I was able to refine to .999 purity, which was a proud moment. But, those chemicals are just way too scary.
The leaching process
It's complicated it depends on many factors, I'm not an expert but I'll give some of what I know.
1: the ore that you going to be process
Low grade or high grade
this is the most important factor
of success or failure
choose your ore very wisely
crush your ore ,panned and if You see metallic gold even microscopic gold
then You can get an advise from a qualified person in how to extract the gold
otherwise is a wasting of time
Or Crush the rock ,put in a plastic bag
send it to a lab for analysis.
but the result can only give you an idea of what You can found there in the mine or in the rocks
but nothing is certain
a vein can be very rich for 1 or 2 meters
then nothing,then can be low grade
or can be super rich
You never know.
