All,

I've recently come upon a bunch (many Kgs) of ceramic packaged SAW Filters and Oscillators, very similar in construction to Samuel-a's components in this post:

While researching with the manufacturer data for my parts, it was mentioned that Materion was the source for the lids, which led me to their website, where I found this interesting PDF:

http://materion.com/~/media/Files/PDFs/Microelectronics/Materion Lid Application Comparison.pdf

I thought it might be of help to those researching or wondering about lidded components, particularly those on Telecom boards, RF assemblies, or cellphone boards.

I suspect my lids are either Kovar or Stainless - they are magnetic. Until I figure that out, I'll not do any batch recovery of the gold on the leads and interior.

Of note, Materion also makes other electronic packaging products - flanges, contacts and the like. You might want to browse their website for more info.

Cheers,

Brian

If this is the same Materion I am familiar with (did many haz waste hauls for them), then they are very good at making berrylium copper which I believe looks very similar to the Tungten Gold heat spreaders, as well. Just a thought...
