Ribbon cable

Newbie question alert! LOL

I have been tearing down some early to mid 80’s computers and just for chuckles stripped a few ribbon cables. These were all silver colored and non-magnetic, are they possibly silver due to better conductivity? If so any clues as to the best way to process.
