I have been reading the forum for a few weeks now and must say that the discussions are very interesting. I joined the forum in hopes to find a place to sell some of my gold. After reading some threads I contacted some of the refiners without any luck. It seems that I cannot sell any gold without a business. If anyone has any insight on how I could go about this I would appreciate it. I have approximately 26 troy ounces of 22+ karat gold buttons that I have refined using fire assay. I was thinking about selling half of my material. I live in Canada, but I travel quite frequently travel to the US. Thanks for the help.

We have quite a few members in Canada that would readily purchase your gold.It would help if you told us where you lived. Then I am sure someone will contact you.

I live in Thunder Bay, Ontario. Interestingly enough I will be in Orlando in July. When I get to work today I will post some pics of my material. I have been collecting it for 10 years and over the past winter I refined it and was surprised at how much it yielded. Thanks for the reply.

Our leader Noxx is Canadian and there's also Glondor there I believe, both would be high on any recommendations of where to sell to if I was looking for a reliable place in Canada.

User name: Noxx - nikor.ca - two locations in Quebec

or myself - I can assit with shipping and insurance as well

EDI helped me out with this. If anyone is looking for a good refinery I highly recommend using EDI because they paid me 95% of spot in 4 days. Thank you P.

its interesting to see that there is so much to learn about gold and how it is collected and processed. I have a question on selling gold.

Governments around the world are buying gold, some to hedge against currency devaluations, do any of the refiners sell gold to the government of the usa or china or any other country for that matter? thank you

I live in the US, personally, I am going to try and do the responsible thing and only sell gold to entities here in the United States, and hope with companies who are supplying industry here in the United States. Far too much of our countries gold goes to china, to help fuel the electronics industry so that it can eventually make it's way back to the United States in the form of consumer goods, and keep our economy churning. Not to mention our electronic waste which is also going to China, India, etc and being sold back to us in the form of consumer goods.

Just like jobs, and are other natural resources, we should be keeping it here instead of selling it all abroad.

I'm small, so thus far I can afford to be this way, I hope I can be so in the future as well. There are more than enough legitimate people to sell to here in the US.

All gold is brokered through the market especially where governments are the buyers, big purchases can and do cause the price to rise the same as big sales deflates the price. If your selling gold to refiners it's all added together and brokered on the market this makes the spot market price, basically the banks sit down together and buy and sell between themselves until a balance is reached and the gold available is sold, if there's lots available but few buyers the price drops and if there's little available but lots of buyers it rises, basic supply and demand.
I worked for JM for some years and we had to calculate all the purchases and sales twice a day and then the balance was either bought or sold on the market, the big boys in bullion refining and sales don't play the markets too often, well not down at the level I worked!

I sell escrap in volume corporately to EDI. They are great to deal with and I appreciate
their consistently fair prices and the no hassle way they conduct their business.

If anyone needs a recommendation for them, feel free to PM me. Especially if you deal
in volumes of escrap.
