Hello everyone,

is there any reason to crush later ceramic cpu's like the AMD-Athlon 850

like older ones (for example the good old pentium pro):

or is there only copper inside and because of it should be enough to process only the pins?

Regards, Frank!

I don't crush or break up the AMD chips before I process but I will remove the MLCCs and silicon die before recovery.

Hello,

the MLCC's I remove too but why the silicone die?

And the pins? Are they hard soldered, i can't see any soft solder underneath them like on newer cpu's (Athlon 2).

Regards!

The tiny amount of gold plating on the pads where the die mounts, it all adds up. I know most people wouldn't. I have a few hundred grams of silicon dies collected up from this type of CPU.
I want to process them alone to see if there are values there. A curiosity of mine.
