Hey,
I now came to my first stock pot refining. I have a solution wich is not seethrough and greenish/blackish (Most of it is CuCl2 and NiCl2). There should be some silver in it because 3 months ago I put all my wastes together in one bucket and Silver Chloride appeared when pouring it in. Now its just a greenish black liquid without any white AgCl in solution. Now I did put some of the solution into a beaker and added HCl but no Silver Chloride appeared. Does someone know where my silver could have gone?
David

Edit: I just use AP (HCl, H2O2) Solutions with Sodiumhypochloride and SMB (No nitric, No sulfuric, ...)

Since you're using chloride based solutions, I wouldn't expect any silver to be in solution. Any silver chloride should have been in the solids from your CuCl2 (AP), or the solids in your stock pot.

can silver chloride also be be black/gray? Until it was stored lightproof it was still white?

It might not have been silver chloride. I've encountered this sudden white precipitate several times. Since it was from different batches of ONLY gold fingers or ONLY gold pins, I knew it couldn't be silver. I took some out, washed and dried it. It turned greenish when heated to dryness. It's likely some type of complex oxychloride that forms when certain hydrated metal salts are combined. Or, it could be a solution of concentrated acid copper (I) chloride hitting an aqueous solution, which causes the Cu(I)Cl to drop out.

Yes it can be. If you leave it long enough exposed to light it will first turn purple and then black, converting the outer layer in silver oxide.
Stir it up a bit and i bet it will turn lighter.
A fresh thick layer of AgCl will get compressed a lot by gravity in time. So it may still all be there on the bottom.

Although dave has a good point. If there was no silver nitrate to start with, none would have appeared when adding to wastes.

Copper 1 chloride is more likely to have formed in a dilute solution. It's not very soluble.
