Tried to melt down some silver powder I separated from ore, came out looking like an excelsior cracker! Anyone else had this issue?

Indulge us and explain how you extracted this Silver powder.
To me it looks like slag.
No slag, just powder itself separated from ore, no flux. Should've added collector metal but it's silver, thought it would've melted down by itself.
 
Are you sure there is silver in your ore? In what form? If it's a sulfide, it needs a pre-roast with plenty of access to air to burn off the sulfur, OR a smelt with a high oxidizer percentage and metallic iron (thin rods/nails or pieces of sheet) to bind the sulfur.

What else is in the ore? Other metals and metalloids could interfere with the processing.
