Hello everyone, I'm pretty new at this process, I had a 5 PPro and I broke them into 5-8 pieces. I put them in a beaker with Muriatic acid and 2-4 tablespoon of Sodium Nitrate; left them on a hot plate for about an hour, after that I turned off the hot plate and left it over night. The next morning, I filtered the solution into another beaker. I added Urea/water mix to neutralize the Nitrate which it did. After that, I added close to boiling SMB/water to the solution. I left them over night; The next morning, I could see the black powder at the bottom. I tested the solution with Stannous Chloride it turned dark brown, so I add more SMB to the solution. Left it again for another 12 hours; deja vu! the Stannous Chloride test still reads positive(dark brown). Can you guys please help me out here what I'm doing wrong?

Sounds like false positive to me.
Maybe a picture?

Anyway, Wash + dry the gold powder and note the final weight, does it match the know PP's yield ?

How much SMB did you use each time? Brown is generally a false positive, as Sam said. Too much SMB will give you that reading. A positive should be purple to black in color.

Thank you guys! I added pretty much a lot. For future reference, should I be adding 1 tablespoon per ounce of medal or 1 gram of expected gold powder return?

1 to 1-1/2 grams of SMB per gram of gold you expect is in solution. It really doesn't take much.

Thanks for the advise guys! I have something else for you guys, the PPro, does it have other medals in it as well? Also, what's the actual gold yield of these boys? I read on the other postings people were saying its about .5g. Is this correct?

Maniacop, i cant imagine that you read that here. even on a good day, the best you can hope for from a P.Pro is .45g - .50g. that 1g stuff is all over the internet and just wishful thinking.

I had a potential customer contact me a couple of days ago about some PP. He went on to tell me his current refiner was getting 1.2 g per chip. I ask him twice " From the PP " He said yes. I told him You better call your refiner right now and tell him he's the greatest refiner in the world and you hope to always do business with him. He was price shopping is what he was doing and had i took his account it would have no doubt lead to problems.
