I have been using Steve's cell method for deplating gold in an outdoor environment. I want to move the process inside my garage. My question is: what is the gas that comes off at the anode? Is working inside detrimental to any equipment inside the garage?

it's most likely hydrogen gas, when inside, work with a good ventilation.

Remember this if bubbles come off of solution, liquid comes off with the bubbles. That tiny amount of liquid has to settle some where so over the long run you will start to see damage to things in your garage.
