I have a melted button of gold and silver. The copper and lead are already removed
you need to add silver so that the total amount of gold is no more than 25% of the total mass.
fuse it all into one hemogenic melt and dissolve in nitric acid.
silver will dissolve, gold will precipitate....

You can also add copper.
gold should be no more than a quarter of the weight of the ingot.
such physical laws in this universe.

Is there a question in here?
You have now told us what you have done, but no information about what material it came form what your plan/purpose with this button is and so on.
Hence my reply: And??

If you want sensible replies you need to formulate questions
and provide information that makes us able to help you.

I would like to know how to seperate the silver from the gold. It originally came from one of my mining claims was crushed, ran it on an rp4 table to a heavy concentrate. Smelted it in a bone ash cupel and now i have a blob of gold and silver. Thats a quick version

yes, that's exactly what I mean.
in my country it’s called (literally) quartering.

This is much more informative than "I have melted a button of Gold and Silver".
Now we can almost help you.
The missing thing now is how much Gold and Silver.
The aim is 25% Gold or 6 karat so we need to know the composition of the button.
XRF is the best, but maybe an acid test can do?
At least if it is done correctly.

You need to achieve an alloy of at least 75% silver to digest the silver and any base metals completely with nitric.

one way to determine the density , is to weigh it dry and then hanging from a thin wire in water, not touching the bottom. this way you measure the weight of the volume of water the item displaces. this volume in grams is equal to the volume in ml. divide the dry weight by the volume, and you know the density.
then look at a graph of different gold silver alloy's to seen in which range you are. add a little more silver and melt to a homogenous alloy.
then digest it with nitric> STUDY FIRST!!!
and retrieve your gold sponge or powder from the solution.
recover the silver by adding chlorides or by cementing and refine your gold to high purity if desired.

If this all sound like Sanskrit to you, then study hard and ask us before you do anything or when you feel you get lost!

have fun, stay safe.

Martijn.
