Hi went to check and give my AP a stir and this is what I found... I think I may or contaminated it yesterday by adding some scrap gold which perhaps wasn't gold?
Any ideas what made it changed?
Thanks

Were there any aluminum or iron parts in it?
It looks like the copper cemented out on some base metal.
And that gold looks like fake gold. Too glossy and shiny.
Are there gold foils?
And how did you make the AP?

Lots of imitation Au jewelry has been sold, by foreigners claiming to need money for gas. Stamped 14 and 18 K. Always put it in a little Nitric, or Ap, before adding to known alloys.

True, I should know better with my experience in vintage watches, live and learn... I think for my next batch I'll use my torch to incenerate some crap prior to AP.
After multiple filtations with H2o this is what I'm left with, very colourful 😏
