I was at a hardware store the other day and saw they had some telephone and audio/video parts for sale (pretty cheap) and it got me thinking...

The telephone jack's seem to have a litte bit of gold plating in them, bothe on the male and female part of the jack. Has anyone had any experience with these and and idea for yields.. i figure it would take quite a few but i was just wondering.

I throw mine into the gold plated connector pile and get around $3.00 USD per pound for them. :|

telephone companys like Bell were big users of gold, look for very old phone parts some of the very old ones can have substantial amounts of gold, when gold was very low in dollar value, and modern plating was not even thought of, I have read almost an ounce of gold in one part was not uncommon.

Same here.

You may want to check the keypad board on the newer phones. I scrapped a truckload of Harris phones that had gold contact points on the boards.

I get 2 bucks a pound, I last brought in 12 lbs from network card cables.
