what do you guys do with depopulated ram sticks?ive got a good few that have got rows and rows of gold down the sides of where the ic's used to be.
and some do have gold on but only a few dots, are these worth stripping of solder mask and processing?

I would think there isn't enough left to warrant trying to get it.
But if you wish to recover and recycle all copper that's on boards, the little PMs would accumulate and eventually be enough to recover.
Total recycling of everything is what we strive for but only if affordable.

BS.
Wondering if all the BS spewing everywhere is worth recycling...

just thought id ask as they look fairly well dotted with gold but as you say i tink ill sell them on.
thanks.

I know all sticks are not the same but I did a batch of ram sticks, processed the fingers then the sticks, lets say on the batch the fingers was about 11mg per stick, when I processed the the boards which had gold pads and vias they made what looked like a huge pile of foils I was so happy but I noticed when I did the HCl/Cl they were gone in a flash, that worked out to be about 2mg per stick additional but it was a lot more work so I guess it depends on how much you want to put into it.

I'd say the ram boards have alot of base metal with a tad of gold hiding in there.

Correct me if I'm wrong...
HCL the boards warm for Lead and Tin.
Rinse with warm water
Next:
AP for copper and settle out Gold.
Copper is what you are extracting from the boards but gold settles out as by product.
So to make it worth doing, you'd have to think processing copper to resell and Gold only as a bonus when enough accumulates... Maybe some silver from solder.

BS.
Researching copper reclaimation and refinning for profit...

Just thinking what do you mean with this, I noticed you use it a lot in your replies. BS can be associated with not very nice explanation but I think you probably meant PS - post scriptum. Don't know, english is not my first language so I thought - better to ask, I may learn something new...
