I recently harvested a tiny (around 1.75 x the size of a deck of cards) from an old IBM powerbook. The disks inside are NOT silver. They are a more yellow gold color. Are these worth saving? If so, what metals do they contain?

I thought that the ferric oxide was the main means of accomplishing the magnetic storage.
Are you sure that the whole coating is nothing more than ferric oxide?
